Vicky Yager (66) of Newton

Vicky Joan Yager, age 66, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 12:33 PM – Monday, May 29, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family.

Funeral services celebrating Vicky’s life will be held at 10:00 AM – Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Rev Steve Willis officiating. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 7:00 PM – Monday, June, 5, 2023, at the funeral home. Vicky was born on July 21, 1956, in Crawford County, Illinois, the daughter of Meredith Lee and Joy Bell (Patterson) Yager. Vicky graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1974. After high school she started working at the Newton Broom Factory and worked there for 35 years. 17 years ago, Vicky started her dream of owning her own business. She built and operated the Filler-up Buffet on the south edge of Newton. She was a wonderful cook and served the best fried chicken around. Vicky enjoyed camping, woodworking, bowling and playing the bass guitar.

Vicky is survived by: Best Friend – Shelia Millsap of Newton, Illinois; Brother – Terry (Linda) Yager of Newton, Illinois; Nieces and Nephews – Jody (Mike) Dhom of Newton, Illinois; Josh (Amy) Yager of Newton, Illinois; Jesse (Kim) Yager of Newton, Illinois; Jeff (Jennifer) Millsap of Auburn, Illinois; Krista (Joe) Barber of West Liberty, Illinois; and Ryan (Kelsey) Millsap of Newton, Illinois; Several great nieces and nephews also survive; Uncle – Richard (Cheryl) Yager of Newton, Illinois; Aunt – Mary Powden of Olney, Illinois.

Vicky was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
