Anthony W. "Tony" Dust, Jr. (85) of Effingham

Anthony W. “Tony” Dust Jr., 85, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at home with his family by his side.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will be in Loy Cemetery in Heartville. Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Loy Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here.

Tony was born on June 28, 1937, in Effingham, IL, the son of Anthony W. and Rose Marie (Willenborg) Dust. He married Sylvia Townsend on June 30, 1958. They were parents of five children. Tony was a union heavy equipment operator for 59 years, most recently for Howell Asphalt in Effingham, a farmer, and fixer of all things.

Tony is survived by the love of his life of almost 65 years his wife, Sylvia Dust of Effingham; children, Bill Dust (Debbie) of Edwardsville, Rose Pavano (Gerardo) of Davenport, Iowa /Effingham, IL, Don Dust of Effingham, Kathi Dust-See of Centralia, and Star Slane (Mike) of Effingham; 8 grandchildren, Anthony Dust IV (Maggie), Elizabeth Pruemer (Trevor), Jenna Willenborg (Chris Miller), Jillian Miller (Cory), Blake Dust, Heather Macke (Logan), John See, and Isaac See; 7 great-grandchildren; and sister, Carmen Will of Green Creek.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Loretta Moon, Doris Will, Jane Dust, and Genevieve Fearday.
