Victor A. Taggart (89) of Hazel Dell

Victor A. Taggart, age 89, of Hazel Dell, Illinois, passed away at 7:40 PM - Sunday, May 21, 2023, near Hazel Dell, Illinois.  

Visitation will be held 2:00 to 3:00 PM – Friday, May 26, 2023, with a service to follow at the Greenup First Southern Baptist Church, 404 US Route 40, Greenup, Illinois, with Brooke Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Hazel Dell South Cemetery in Hazel, Dell, Illinois, with military rites by the Cumberland County Veteran’s Association. In loving memory of Victor, memorials may be made to the Greenup First Southern Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois. Victor was born on October 11, 1933, in Hazel Dell, Illinois, the son of Wayne Frederick and Dorothy A. (Comer) Taggart. He served his country in the United States Air Force from December 1953, until his honorable discharge in December 1966.

Victor was a truck driver for many years. He was a member of the Greenup First Southern Baptist Church, Cumberland Post #4598 Veterans of Foreign Wars and Greenup American Legion Post #566. Victor served for several years as the Crooked Creek precinct committeeman for the Cumberland County Republican Party.

Victor is survived by nieces and nephews.

Victor was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marshall William “Fireball” Taggart, Harold Eugene Taggart, and Hershel Wayne Taggart, nephews Randall Taggart, Michael Taggart, Harold Wayne Taggart, Robert Taggart, and a niece Karen Louise Wright.
