Vera Miller (92) of Altamont

Vera Miller, 92, of Altamont, died at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2023, at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont surrounded by her family.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at the Altamont Christian Church with Jody Kitts officiating. Burial will follow at Beecher City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont and for one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be made to the Altamont Christian Church Youth Group.

Vera Rose Miller was born on Saturday, January 10, 1931 in Pana, IL to Tony and Millie (Ludici) Sealock Kelly. She married Charles L. Miller on October 16, 1971. He preceded her in death on July 27, 2005. Vera started as a telephone operator in St. Elmo, IL in the early 1950’s. She retired from Contel Telephone Company in Altamont in 1986. Vera was a long-time member of the Mill Road Thresherman Association and the Exxon Annuitants with her husband Charles. She was a volunteer at Lutheran Care Center for many years. She enjoyed raising flowers, taking walks and being with her family. Vera was a long-time member of the Altamont Christian Church. She believed it was faith, family, then herself.

She is survived by: her sons, Gary (Sherry) Craig, Terry (JoAnn) Miller, Rick (Jean) Miller and Charlie (Becky) Miller; brother, Joe (Eleanor) Kelly; 11 Grandchildren, 14 Great Grandchildren, and 1 Great Grandchild on the way.

Vera was preceded in death by: her husband, parents, 2 sisters, 1 brother, 3 grandchildren in infancy.
