E. Joan Traub (94) of Charleston, formerly of Mahomet

E. Joan Traub, 94, of Charleston, Illinois formerly of Mahomet, Illinois passed away peacefully and went to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Hilltop Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation.
A private graveside service will be held Friday, April 28, 2023 at Bethsaida Cemetery in Dieterich, Illinois. Memorials in her honor may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 200 Vesey Street, 28th Floor, New York, NY 10281 and mailed to Adams Funeral Chapel, 2330 Shawnee Drive, Charleston, Illinois 61920.
Joan was born October 7, 1928 in Mt. Carmel, Illinois the daughter of Lauston and Alice (Jacobs) Sperry. She married Delbert Morris Traub on July 23, 1948 in Effingham, IL and he preceded her in death on February 4, 1984.
She is survived by her two sons, Steve (Carol Metz) Traub of Carmichael, CA, and Mark Traub of Kansas, Illinois; four grandchildren, Matt (Allison) Traub, Lesli Traub, Andy (Ashton) Traub, and Jeff (Valerie) Traub; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Sperry (Special Friend, Pauline Goldstein); former daughter-in-law and good family friend, Kim Traub; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Carolyn (Tom) Richards.
Joan worked at the University of Illinois and was the administrator of the Illinois Natural History Survey before retiring in 1997 after 24 years of service. She was a dedicated member at the Lutheran Church of Mahomet. She was known for her great cooking and love for gardening. She truly enjoyed the time she spent with her family and was active in her grandchildren’s lives while growing up. She will be missed by all who knew her.
