Matthew was born on December 13, 1974 in Olney, IL, son of Louis and Teresa (Dust) Tegeler.

He graduated from East Richland High School and the University of Illinois with a degree in Agricultural Economics. He was employed as a commodities analyst in Chicago.

He married Michele Briggs in 2005 and they have two sons, Connor and Luke. He is also survived by his mother, Teresa and brothers Mark (Kim) and Michael (Mandy) and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Tegeler and grandparents Mildred and Albert Tegeler and Lucy and Henry Dust.

Matthew was a man of faith and a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a good friend to many throughout the years and his presence will be greatly missed by both family and friends. He was an avid sports fan with an amazing knowledge of sports history and statistics, but his greatest pride was following his sons’ sporting teams and their school activities always encouraging them to do their best whether it was on the basketball court, baseball diamond, or in the backyard playing together.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Connor and Luke’s future education fund, to Sts. Peter and Paul School in Cary, IL, or to the Family Life Center in Effingham, IL.

As an organ donor recipient, Matthew always encouraged others to consider signing up to be an organ donor.
