Raymond B. Shook (87) of Greenup

Raymond B. Shook, 87, of Greenup, IL passed away peacefully at Terre Haute Regional Hospital on April 14, 2023.

Private services will be held. The Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL is assisting the family.

Ray was born to Roy and Pearl Shook in Robinson, IL. on November 1, 1935. He was one of nine children.

Raymond worked 35 years for Ettelbrick Shoe Company in Robinson and 14 years for Belleville Shoe until his retirement in 1998. Perhaps his favorite “Job” was mowing the cemeteries here in Greenup, which he continued to do until late last year. Ray’s work ethic was one of a kind. He loved helping others and loved being outside.

Ray is survived by his wife of 46 years, Sheryl (nee Gabel), two step sons Brian (Chrissy) Cox of Red Bud, IL, Troy (Jamie) Cox of O’Fallon, IL; grandchildren Jayce, Trenton, Aliyah, and Camden; sister in law Carol Miller; two brother in laws Mark and Bob Gabel. He is also survived by his children Judy, Kathy, and Kenny, as well as their children. Ray was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law Roger Miller.
