John Newton Clark, 67, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at his home in Effingham.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with inurnment at Jefferson Barracks Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri at a later date. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am to the time of mass, Wednesday at the church, in St. Clare Hall. Memorial donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association to further help those with Lewy Body Dementia. 

John was born April 14, 1955 in Effingham, the son of Foster Deon and Bertha Marie (Funneman) Clark. On November 28, 1992, John married Kathleen Bellora. John spent 31 years working as a highway maintainer with the Illinois Department of Transportation, District 7. He was a member of the National Rifle Association of America and a Third Degree member of the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus Council # 2874.

John is survived by his wife, Kathleen of Effingham; daughter, Nicholle Clark (special friend, Christian McDermit) of Champaign; brother, Joel (Kathy) Clark of Shelbyville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert (Paula) Bellora of St. Louis, MO, Roseann (Eddie) of New Orleans, LA, Joseph (Rosa) Bellora of Wichita, KS, Kenneth (Karen) Bellora of Chicago, Mary Louise (Hal) of Charlottesville, VA, John Bellora of San Diego, CA, Val (Lisa) Bellora of Escondido, CA, Anthony Bellora of San Diego, CA, and Lisa DiCarlo, Fall Church, VA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Sylvester William “Doc” Meyer; brothers, Marvin Ray Clark and Robert Thomas Clark and brother-in-law, Jim Bellora.
