Diana Kay Nichols, age 75, of Silver Spring, Maryland, and formerly of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 3:25 AM Friday, April 7, 2023, at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland.

Private services will be held, with burial in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Newton, Illinois. Diana was born on March 21, 1948, in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Don Ernest and Kathleen (Waddell) Nichols. She graduated from Newton Community High School, with the class of 1966. After high school she went on to attend Eastern Illinois University and earned her bachelor’s degree in political science.

Diana worked as a finical officer for Washington Temple of The Church of the Latter-day Saints in Washington, DC for 37 years. She was also a member of the church.

Diane enjoyed genealogy and was very involved with the Daughter’s of the American Revolution.  She was proud to be the 7th generation of Nichols family to live in Jasper County. 

Diana is survived by-Niece - Brenda Hamand (Jonathan) of Casey, Illinois; Great Niece and Nephews – Casandra, Zachary, Andrew, and Roland; 3 great-great nieces; 7 great-great nephews; and several cousins.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents and her brother David Nichols.
