Vicki Irene Pals (70) of Effingham

Vicki Irene Pals, 70 of Effingham, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023 peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones after a long, 22-year, courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, April 14, 2023 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with burial in Oakridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 am to the time of service, Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be given to the Crossroads Cancer Center in Effingham. Vicki was born March 21, 1953 to Byron Robison and Ruby (Ballinger) Tabor. She graduated from Effingham High School. Vicki and her former spouse, John Pals, had two daughters together. She operated a house cleaning business called “The Dirt Sisters" with her sister for many years. Vicki enjoyed spending time with family and friends; especially her two grandkids. One of her greatest gifts was to be able to become a great-grandma. She enjoyed watching her birds and called them her angels. Vicki never met a stranger.

Vicki is survived by her daughters, Heather (Justin) Antrim and Heidi (Ron) Goldstein, both of Teutopolis; grandchildren, Trenton Hoelscher and Madison Goldstein, both of Teutopolis; great-grandchild, Colson Hoelscher of Teutopolis; sister, Debra Apke of Effingham; brother, Mike (Diane) Tabor of Newburgh, IN.

She was preceded in death by her parents; step-father, Clarence "Leroy" Tabor; grandparents, Lon & Rose Ballinger; and brother-in-law, Ronald J. Apke.

Memorial donations may be given to the Crossroads Cancer Center in Effingham.
