Rose Ann Kerner, age 85, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 11:49 AM Friday, April 7, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Friday, April 14, 2023, at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Newton, Illinois. Burial will be in the New St Peter Cemetery northeast of Newton, Illinois. Visitation will be held 4:00-6:00 PM Thursday, April 13, 2023, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Rose Ann was born on July 21, 1937, in Jasper County, Illinois, the daughter of Leo John and Anna Madeline (Schafer) Kerner. She graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1955.
Rose Ann was a lifelong faithful member of St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. She was also a member of the ladies’ auxiliary of the Newton VFW and Jasper Post #20 American Legion.
Rose Ann is survived by:
Siblings – Geneva Barber of Ypsilanti, Michigan; and Larry (Delores) Kerner of Bridgeport, Illinois
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Rose Ann was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Carolyn Kerner, Marjorie Wakefield, Loren Dean Kerner, Leo Kerner, Jr and Leonard Kerner, nephews Steve Kerner, Donald Ward, Dean Kerner, Thomas Kerner and Dale “Peach” Kerner, niece Donna Summers and a great niece Angel Beals.
