Edith L. Brockett, 82, of Wood River, formerly of Altamont, died at 9:58 p.m. Thursday, April 6, 2023 in Wood River at her daughter’s home.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 10, 2023 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Rev. Dr. James F. Wright officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery, Altamont. Visitation will be from noon until service time. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Edith was born on Sunday, February 16, 1941 in Chicago, IL to John and Adeline (Tappendorf) Winter. She married Glenn Theodore Brockett on September 17, 1967 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Altamont. He preceded her in death on December 7, 2011. In addition to raising her family she had been a waitress at Stuckey’s Carriage Inn, Altamont.
She is survived by: her son, Benton (Dawn) Brockett of Salem, OR; daughter, Pamela Reeves of Wood River; 4 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
Edith was preceded in her death by her parents, husband, brother, Larry Winter and a granddaughter, Amanda Cushing.
