Ruby A. Wheat, 99, of Shelbyville, IL, passed away at 8:00 a.m. Sunday, March 19, 2023 in Shelbyville Manor.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Jim Whitaker officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Jordan Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to Quad County Hospice.
Ruby was born on January 17, 1924 in Lakewood, IL, the daughter of Frank and Lillie Fern (Austin) Hayward. She was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, near Shelbyville, IL. Ruby married John Leonard Wheat on January 16, 1944. He passed away on February 11, 2015.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Agney (James) of Shelbyville, IL: son, Gary Wheat of Paris, IL; grandsons, Troy Leon Agney (Kathleen) and Tracy Lynn Agney; great grandchildren, Lee James Agney (Katie), Jarred Agney (Regina), Samantha Cohan (Jim), Kaylee Agney, Derek Agney and Alexis Agney; and six great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard; daughter-in-law, Jeanie Wheat; brothers, Noel Hayward (Ann) and John Hayward (Rovene) and one great granddaughter, Courtney Jordan Agney.
