Linda D. Jones (61) of Cowden

Linda D. Jones, 61, of Cowden, IL, passed peacefully in her sleep on Friday, March 17, 2023, with loved ones by her side.
Linda was born on July 14, 1961, in Chicago, the daughter of Robert and Martha (Chaney) Nugent. She was smitten the day she met Greg F. Jones and he was as well. In Greg’s words “Linda was the best woman I have ever met.” The couple were blessed with 16 years of marriage, one son, Gregory Jr. and four beautiful daughters, Kristina, Celine, Cassia and Caitlyn. Linda was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was the happiest when she was caring for or spending time with her loved ones, especially her three granddaughters. She was an active member of the Free Methodist Church in Cowden. Linda enjoyed crafting, and making homemade Christmas cards to share with fellow church members. She also enjoyed sharing her baking skills with those in the area baking birthday cakes as well as wedding cakes. She will be deeply missed by all.
Linda leaves behind her husband, Greg F. Jones of Cowden; daughters: Kristina Fletcher of Cowden, Celine (Alex) Jones of Phoenix, AZ, Cassia Jones of Miami, FL and Caitlyn Jones of Orlando, FL; three granddaughters: Aria Edmonds, Charlotte Frye and Helena Jones; siblings: Mark (Debbie) Nugent of Tower Hill, James (Amelida) Nugent of Cowden and Beth (Ivan) Hackney of Decatur and several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Gregory F. Jones, Jr., infant grandson, Beau Frye and brother, Matthew Nugent.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, in the Free Methodist Church in Cowden with Pastor Steve Neville officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service. A private family burial will take place on a later date. Memorials may be made in Linda’s name to the Cowden Free Methodist Church.
