Daniel Joe Kuhns (75) of Edgewood

Daniel Joe Kuhns, age 75, of Edgewood, Illinois passed away at 6:55 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2023 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Funeral mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 17, 2023 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Edgewood. Father Joseph Havrilka will be officiating. Burial will be at St. Anne Catholic Cemetery in rural Edgewood; Military Rites will be observed. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Pagel Funeral Homes in Edgewood with Rosary starting at 4:30 p.m. Memorials may go to St. Anne Catholic Church or the donor’s choice. Joe was born on September 24, 1947 in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Henry and Dorothy (Vogel) Kuhns. He married Theresa “Terry” Velcheff on June 28, 1969 in Silver Bay, Minnesota. He loved being outside, tinkering with just about anything, and was always ready to help a friend in need. Joe had a special love for cars, including his 66 GTO and 1931 Model A. His family was his everything, especially his grandchildren. He had a love of funny hats which he passed on to his sons.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Kuhns of Edgewood; sons, Brian Kuhns of St. Paul, Minnesota, Eric Kuhns (Mendi) of Toledo, Mark Kuhns (wife Christina) of Murphysboro, and Adam Kuhns of Edgewood; brothers, Gary Kuhns of Mattoon and Paul Kuhns (wife Gayla) of Mason; sister, Cathy Kos (husband John) of Wheaton; grandchildren, Hannah Kuhns, Nathan Kuhns, Reese Kuhns, and Annabelle Kuhns; and his dog, Barney.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dorothy Kuhns; brother, James “Jim” Kuhns; sister, Mary Ann Wachtel.
