Rose Richardson, 75, of Altamont, died at 11:14 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2023 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield with her family by her side.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the VFW Gieseking-Schwerdtfeger Post #7676, Altamont. Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont is assisting the family with arrangements.

Rose Marie Richardson was born on Wednesday, June 18, 1947 in Fayette County, Vandalia at Mark Greer Hospital to William Creston and Ruth Luellen (Harris) Merrill. Her father died when she was young adult and her mother then married Harry Bivins. She was employed at Lutheran Care Center, Altamont as a cook in the dietary department for over seventeen years. She was of the Christian Faith. She was a member of the VFW Post #7676 Ladies Auxiliary and was the treasurer for the St. Elmo Rod and Gun Club. Rose enjoyed shopping, spending time with her grandkids and traveling, especially to Florida.

She is survived by; her sons, Doug Merrill, Altamont and Jeff Richardson, Chicago; daughters, Tonya (Darrin Mars) Suckow, Altamont and Brin Wright (Armando Zapata), Brownstown; brothers, Buck (Angie) Merrill, St. Elmo, Kenny Merrill, Brownstown, Orville (Jan) Merrill, Strasburg, Rick (Corina) Merrill, Atlanta and Les (Sis) Bivins, St. Elmo; sisters, Pat (Rollin) Duckwitz, Lehigh Acres, FL and Linda Snyder, Effingham; Eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by; her parents and a son, Jerry Richardson.
