Burrell Dwight Boyer, age 82, of Effingham, Illinois passed away at 9:30 AM Friday, February 3, 2023, at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Effingham, Illinois.
Private family services were held, with entombment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Effingham, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left by clicking here.
Burrell was born on November 3, 1940, in Mt Vernon, Illinois, the son of Johnson and Ermel (Smith) Boyer. He graduated from Mt Vernon High School. Following high school, he served his country in the United States Army, serving from May 25, 1963, until November 24, 1963, and again June 22, 1968, until April 6, 1969. Burrell owned and operated Boyer’s Dental Lab in Effingham for over 50 years. Burrell was a member of the Edgewood American Legion, VFW of Owensboro, Kentucky, and was a Shriner. He enjoyed gambling and visiting with family and friends. Burrell was avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears.
Burrell is survived by: Son – Chris (wife Kim) Boyer of Effingham, Illinois Grandchildren – Courtney Boyer (fiancé Kyle McCormick) of Stewardson, Illinois; Dominic Boyer of Dieterich, Illinois; Brook (Nick) Hughart of Newburg, Indiana; and Delaine Hagenseiker (fiancé Christopher Keller) of Effingham, Illinois Great Grandchildren – Aidan Hughart, Kennedy Keller, Heidi Hughart, and Elle Keller Sisters – Vivian Serrato, Kay Deemarah, and Betty Tweedy.
Burrell was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bryan Boyer, Burris Boyer, George Robert Boyer, and a sister Marilyn Boyer.
