Danny Michael Donald, 71, of Shelbyville, IL, formerly of Macon, IL, passed away at 3:32 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, 2023 in Shelbyville Manor.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 29, 2023 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Don Jefferies officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Donald Family Education Fund.
Danny was born on August 1, 1951 in Shelbyville, IL, the son of John M. and Laveta (Colclasure) Donald. He graduated from Altamont High School in the Class of 1969. He married Rachel Beth Beam on July 2, 1988, and she preceded him in death on March 8, 2019. He graduated from the Decatur School of Practical Nursing and worked as a nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur for six years. Danny later worked for the Cement Masons and Plasterers Union Local 18 as a Concrete Finisher for many years. He was a former secretary for the City of Watson, IL and a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, ELCA in Altamont. Danny enjoyed playing basketball and softball, bowling, gardening, cooking, baking, listening to Beatles music, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and coaching Little League baseball and youth basketball.
Danny is survived by his seven children, Tammy Springer of Kankakee, IL, Denver Donald of Ellington, MO, Clayton Donald of Chicago, IL, Emily Donald of Ellington, MO, McKenna Donald of Decatur, IL, Karac Donald of Bridgeview, IL, and Rheannah Donald of Terre Haute, IN; mother, Laveta Miller of Decatur, IL; sister, Sandra Schniederjan of Macon, IL; half-sisters, Lori Moreman (Mike) of Shelbyville, IL, and Kelly Dodson (Mark) of Pana, IL; step-brother, Jason Mars (Christy) of Nixa, MO; ten grandchildren, Lily Jane Willison of Decatur, IL, Elise and Hannah McKnight of Kankakee, IL, Nicole Tudor (Will) of Washington, IL, Maya Springer of Kankakee, IL, Emma, Dresden and Eva Donald of Ellington, MO, and Joshua and Carlita Foster of Ellington, MO; and great grandson, Arlo Tudor of Washington, IL.
He was preceded in death by wife, Rachel; his father, John Donald (Judy); step-father, Howard Miller; and mother-in-law, Barbara Jane Beam.
