Raymond Joseph "Ray" Lohman, 85, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2023 at his home in Teutopolis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Teutopolis with burial in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the church, with a 5:00 pm parish prayer service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Meals on Wheels or the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Teutopolis. Ray was born February 25, 1937 in Green Creek, the son of Frank and Mary Lohman. He graduated from Teutopolis High School in 1955 and served 5 years in the Army National Guard. Ray married Judith “Judy” Esker on August 4, 1962 at St. Francis Church in Teutopolis. Ray worked for 39 years at Goeckner Bros. in Effingham and after his retirement, he worked part-time for them; totaling 50 years. After fully retiring, he enjoyed working on his neighbor’s lawnmowers and clearing snow from many driveways. He also donated much of his time delivering Meals on Wheels and spending time with the residents of the Lutheran Care Center in Altamont. Ray was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and the Teutopolis Knights of Columbus.
Ray and Judy enjoyed many years of traveling in their camper, including visiting every continental state. He also kept busy attending many events for his grandkids and great-grandson. Ray’s hobby was refurbishing Kubota tractors; his favorite being the B7100. He also had a love for Farmall Cub tractors and watching his tractors at the local parades.
Ray is survived by his wife, Judy; children, Jane Bushue, Tom (Leslie) Lohman, Todd (Sandy) Lohman, and Renee (Kenny) Feldhake; grandchildren, Cody (Adrienne) Bushue, Zakary Bushue, Brett (Shelby) Lohman, Kristen (Matt) Will, Derek Lohman, Blake Lohman, Bryce Lohman, Lindsey Lohman, Tyler Feldhake, and Taylor Feldhake; great-grandson, Easton Lohman; siblings, Fred Lohman, Norbert Lohman, Paul Lohman, Mary Louise Beckman, and Harold Lohman.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother, Lena Lohman; sisters, Dorothy Klitzing and Luella Meinhart, and son-in-law, Doug Bushue.
