Tracy Lynn Painter (60) of Effingham

Tracy Lynn Painter, 60, of Effingham, IL, passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home. Tracy was born on July 12, 1962, in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Harold James and Norma Jean (Bowden) Roberts. She married Richard Painter on May 10, 1996. It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Tracy Painter, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandma, and best friend. Tracy was resilient, strong, loyal, a fierce protector and the glue that held us all together. She was a professional grandma, ran Richard’s Construction alongside her loving husband and cared for her father. She enjoyed many things like bowling, coaching her young pee wee bowlers, Harley rides with friends, cooking for her family, and adored sports especially her Ohio State Buckeyes. But her favorite thing was loving on her family. There was not a day that went by that she was not stylish and everyone knows how much she loved going to the salon. Although she loved her family immensely, her four-legged children stole her heart. She will be forever missed, and our hearts will be forever altered.

Tracy is survived by her father, Harold Roberts; husband, Richard Painter; daughters, Jamie (Ross) Stephens, Rickie Painter, and Kirsten Chitwood; granddaughters, Kaytlynn Roberts and Karsyn Gouchenouer; the apple of her eye great-grandson, Xaiden Gouchenouer; and her four-legged children, Hazel Grace and Rooster Cogburn.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Jean Roberts.
