William Brussell Jr., 88, of Casey, IL passed away at 7:45 am Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Care Center in Coles County.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 30th at the Barkley Funeral Chapel in Greenup, IL. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 3:00 on Thursday at the funeral chapel. Burial with Military Rites by Cumberland County Veterans will be in the Washington Cemetery on the York road rural Casey.

Bill was born on November 23, 1924 in Hazel Dell, the son of William & Ethel (Phillips) Brussell. He married Wilma Jean Trout on June 30, 1950.

Surviving is his loving wife, Daughter in-law Juli Brussell of Corpus Christi, TX; grandson Eric Katona of Abilene, TX; Brother Glenn Brussell of St. Louis; Sisters Delia Dittamore of Effingham and Norma Hough of Los Altos, CA.

Bill was preceded in death by their two sons Kevin L. & David Eric Brussell; a sister Maurine Brussell and a brother Sylvan. 

Bill proudly served his country during World War II from 1943 to 46 in the US Navy; Bill was a Boatswain third class and was on the USS Sargent Bay, USS Tarawa and the USS Kearsarge. He was a lifelong grain and livestock farmer. He was a life member of the Greenup VFW post 4598 and a member of the Greenup American Legion post 566.
