Larissa Elizabeth (Brasel) Smith, age 58, of Willow Hill, Illinois, passed away at 2:45 AM Thursday, December 29, 2022, at her home.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 2304 South Veterans Drive Effingham, Illinois 62401. In loving memory of Larissa, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital. The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left by clicking here.
Larissa Elizabeth was born on June 13, 1964, in Centralia, Illinois, the daughter of Betty Lou Mitchell Vail. She graduated from Effingham High School with the Class of 1982.
Larissa was a farm wife and enjoyed working along her husband David, on the farm. She enjoyed embroidering, quilting, and taking care of her animals.

Husband – David Smith of Willow Hill, Illinois; Children – Brittany (husband Marcus) Standerfer of Surprise, Arizona; Laura Ann (husband Alex) Tays of Effingham, Illinois; Ryan (wife Maryssa) Brown of Fairview Heights, Illinois; Andrew Brown of Effingham, Illinois; and McKenzie (husband Justin) Hotwagner of St Peters, Missouri; Grandchildren – Isaac Tays, Oliver Tays, Lillian Standerfer, Ari Standerfer, Robby Hotwagner and Phoebe Brown; Siblings – Mike (wife Kate) Brasel of Watson, Illinois; John (wife Shirley) Loggins of Effingham, Illinois; and Michaela (husband David) Verdeyen of Effingham, Illinois.
Larissa was preceded in death by her mother Betty Lou Vail, father Ron Ashley, grandson Simon Tays and brother Tom Brasel.
