William W. “Bill” Ferguson, 84, of Strasburg, IL, passed away at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2022 in his residence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shelbyville with Father Pawel Augustyniak as celebrant. Visitation will be from 10:00- 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the church. Burial will be later in Richland Cemetery, Strasburg, IL. Memorials may be given to the Salvation Army. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home in Shelbyville, IL.
Bill was born on September 19, 1938 in Clarkston, MO, the son of William Thomas and Lula Mae (Tune) Ferguson. Bill married Melba Marie Stratman on July 25, 1957 in Wilhelmina, MO. He was a truck driver and dispatcher for Atlas Van Lines in Aurora, IL. Bill loved to visit and never met a stranger. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Shelbyville, IL.
He is survived by his wife, Melba; children, Debra Ferguson of Strasburg, IL, Barbara Bernaeyge of Plainfield, IL, Pamela Peters (Joe) of Plover, WI, Michael Ferguson of Strasburg, IL, Sandra Barajas (Joe) of Aurora, IL and Christina Herrington (Eric) of Sigel, IL; ten grandchildren, Angela O’Malley (John), Peter Bernaeyge, Christopher Bernaeyge, Amanda Peters, Nicole Snow (Phil), Catherine Ferguson, Anthony Placek, Amber Placek, Autumn Placek and Abigail Barajas; 15 great grandchildren; and 2 great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lula Mae Ferguson; step-father, Albert Poe; son-in-law, Donald Vojta; grandson, Andrew Peters; brother, Bobbie Ferguson; and sisters, Maxine Self and Betty Self.
