Carol Ann Nettleton, 81, of Louisville passed away peacefully at 1:44 am Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at the Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Flora.

Carol was born on January 2, 1941, in Effingham, Illinois, the daughter of Max and Fern (Arterburn) Carroll. She married Eugene Charles “Gene” Nettleton on December 27, 1958 at the St. Stephen Catholic Church in Flora and they shared 51 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on January 30, 2010. Carol worked as a seamstress out of her home, and was a founding member of the Lake Patterson Fishing Club. Some of her past times included fishing with family and friends, she was an avid dancer having gone around to many of the local music/dance halls, and loved to cook. Her biggest joy was taking care of her grandchildren.

Carol was survived by her 3 daughters: Cathy (Doug) Briscoe of Louisville, Cammy Watkins (Arthur German) of Louisville, Jennifer (Dale) Sproat of Evansville, Indiana; 6 grandchildren: Sierra (Eddie) Crabtree of Evansville, Indiana, Mason Sproat of Evansville, Indiana, Travis (Chrissy) Watkins of Wheeler, Illinois, Brittany (Toby) Ault of Louisville, Greg (Kay) Oestreich of Clay City, Zeb Oestreich of Clay City; 9 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 1 sister: Debbie (Mick) Lunt of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law: Tim Watkins; and a baby brother that passed away at birth.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Carol will be held at 11:00 am Monday, January 2, 2023 at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville. Burial will follow at the Orchard Hill Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation will be held on Sunday evening at the funeral home where friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made in Carol’s memory to either Clay County Cancer Crusaders or Clay County Hospice.
