Thaddeus John “Thad” Althoff, 59 of Effingham, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022 at HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 am Thursday, December 29, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Effingham with burial in St. Anthony Cemetery. Thad was born January 1, 1963 in Effingham, the son of Bill and Mary Louise Althoff. He was born with special needs but overcame many obstacles to positively impact the lives of his friends and family.

Thad worked at CSS and lived at Wetherell Place in Effingham. He enjoyed his family, friends, camping, church, the St. Louis Cardinals, Coca-Cola, M&M’s, Mickey Mouse, and going out for lunch at the Kountry Kitchen. His Wetherell Place family and CSS friends will miss him dearly.

Thad and his family were active donors and supporters of Community Support Systems in Teutopolis.

He is survived by his brother, Del (Diana); nieces, Danielle (Trevor) Faber and DeeDee (Austin) Hunsaker; nephew, Lee (Kelly) Althoff; six great-nieces and one great-nephew; as well as many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Thad brought a lot of joy into the world. We are lucky to have known him.
