Susan M. Stateler (63) of Newton

Susan Marie Stateler, age 63, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 11:05 AM Friday, December 16, 2022, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.

Funeral services celebrating Susan’s life will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 22, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Pastor Roger James officiating. Burial will be in the Aten Cemetery in Hidalgo, Illinois. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 PM Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the funeral home. Susan was born on February 26, 1959, in Oblong, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Mary Ellen (Field) Huston. She married Rick Stateler on March 5, 1993. Susan grew up in Rose Hill, Illinois, and graduated from Newton Community High School with the Class of 1977. She then attended Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, Illinois, and graduated in 1979. Susan worked at E. R. Moore Cap and Gown Factory in Newton for 27 years. In 2020, she retired from Three Z Printing Company in Teutopolis, Illinois, after 14 years of service. Susan was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and enjoyed going to games. She also enjoyed watching Illini basketball and going to the State Fair. Susan loved spending time at the farm with Rick and being with friends and family.

Susan is survived by: Husband of 29 years – Rick Stateler of Newton, Illinois; Sisters - Beth (Scott) Stewart of Sullivan, Indiana; Roberta (Randy) Wagner of Montezuma, Indiana and Patty Huston of Rose Hill, Illinois; Brother - Michael (Lisa) Huston of Newton, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John Huston and Harold Huston, and father and mother-in-law James and Shirley Stateler.
