Cindy Merrill (66) of St. Elmo

Cindy Merrill, 66 of St. Elmo, died at 12: 22 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2022 at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 9, 2022 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Pee Wee Denton officiating. Visitation will be for one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be made to the family.

Lucinda May Merrill was born on Monday, April 9, 1956 in Vandalia, IL to Roy Roscoe and Clara May (Mitchell) Evans. She was a CNA and had worked at Fayette County Hospital, Vandalia and later at Lakeland Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, Effingham. She loved bingo, spending time with her fur-babies; dogs, Chuck, Champ, Max and Melly and Klaus the cat and most important to her was time that she spent with her family and friends.

Cindy is survived by; her daughters, Sheila (Gary) Underwood and Leann (Tyson) Gottman all of St. Elmo; 4 grandchildren, Shelby (Seth) Carruthers of Greenville, Lucas Underwood, Paige and Bo Gottman all of St. Elmo; great grandson, Luca Carruthers of Greenville; sisters, Rita (Ross) Davis, Barb Cox, Nancy Kramer, all of St. Elmo and Debbie Baldock of Ramsey; brothers, Dick (Brenda) Evans of Effingham, Roger (Brenda) Evans of Altamont, Roy R., Jr. (Carol) Evans and Tom Evans all of St. Elmo.

She was preceded in death by; her parents, 3 brothers, Larry, Richard, and George Evans; sister in childhood, Toni Jean Evans; brothers-in-law, Robert Cox and Phillip Kramer.
