Marjorie Lucille Harre, 96, of Brownstown, Illinois received her angel wings at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, November 27, 2022 surrounded by her family at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont, IL.

Marjorie was born on Friday, January 22, 1926 in Denoya, Oklahoma to Hubert Henry and Lola Jane Woods Williams. The family moved to West Plains, Missouri with the oil company, then to Williams Camp in Pruett, Illinois. Marjorie was married to Edward Edwin Harre in Pickett, Arkansas on September 4, 1943. Together they had five children. Marjorie worked at Fayette County Hospital from 1961-1979 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. After which, she retired from the Vandalia Correctional Center as a Certified Medical Technician having worked there from 1979-1999. Marjorie has been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brownstown, IL for most of her adult life. She enjoyed crocheting, playing cards with family, and the St. Louis Cardinals. She was an avid Ozzie Smith and Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed dancing in her free time.

Marjorie is survived by her sons Henry (Connie) Harre of Brownstown; James (Theresa) Harre of Loogootee and daughter Pamella (Argygle “Mannie”) Orr of Brownstown. Grandchildren: Timothy Harre of Edwardsville, Keith Harre of Brownstown, Shannon VanZant of Brownstown; George Harre Jr. of Marseilles; Wendy Cook of Ramsey, Amelia Gerrard of Altamont, Jessica Rine of Brownstown, Stephen Harre of Brownstown; Ivan Pruett Jr. of Effingham, Rebecca Evans of Brownstown, Rayella Denton of Brownstown, Rita Grull of Greenville, Raychael Russell of Brownstown, and Robin Elam of Altamont. Forty-four great grandchildren and nineteen great great grandchildren. One brother, Hubert “Junior” (Betty) Williams of Brownstown and several nieces and nephews.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son George Edwin Harre Sr., infant daughter Terry Louise Harre, grandsons Christopher “Speed” Harre, Timothy “T.J.” Jurgens, and Trevor Orr and granddaughters Tracy Fisher and April Orr.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church, Brownstown with Pastor Don Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Griffith Cemetery, Brownstown. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 30, 2022 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Brownstown and for one hour prior to service time at the church.
