Ernestine worked at Ettelbrick Shoe Co. in Greenup for several years before deciding to go to beauty school. She was a practicing beautician for over 40 years. She set up shop in downtown Greenup, Ernestine’s Klip & Kurl Beauty Salon, for a few years before moving her shop to her home along U.S. 130 in Greenup. She retired at the age of 72. She was an avid reader, enjoyed word finds and Sudoku puzzles, and needlework. She was a member of the Greenup United Methodist Church for many years and later attended First Southern Baptist Church of Greenup. She cherished her family and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was so loved.
In most recent years, Ernestine, (aka: Mother, Grandma “Tine”, and Ernie) moved to Brighton, MI to be closer to her daughter, Linda, and her granddaughter, Jennifer, and family. Up until the last few months, Ernestine was in for a great meal at Cracker Barrel and always enjoyed her McDonald’s McChicken sandwich, small fries, and a small Coke.
In Brighton, Ernestine resided at Independence Village in a one-bedroom apartment where she was very active and attended church services, played Bingo, went to music concerts, enjoyed crafting and sitting around the fire watching passers-by. She always made the most of life and made friends wherever she went! Her final months were spent in Caretel Inns, an assisted living facility, where she received a higher level of care. She was grateful for anything anyone did for her and was blessed with wonderful care at both facilities.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Glosser and Modena (Curtis) Massie; her grandchildren: Jeffrey (Rikkel) Glosser, Jennifer (Timothy) Brent, Lowell (Vivian) Massie and Heather (Dean) Sirek. She has ten great-grandchildren: Makenzie (Jakob) Kluger, Madelyn Brent, Evan Glosser, Elizabeth Brent, Alexandra Glosser, Charles Massie, Alyssa (Patrick) Stelmack, Olivia (Caleb) Harkins, Lauren Massie, and Elaina Massie.
