Ronald G. Lewis, 63, of Louisville, Illinois was welcomed into Heaven at 4:45 pm, Saturday, November 12, 2022, at the HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.

It was Ronnie’s wishes for cremation and a celebration of life service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family, or a specific nonprofit organization. He loved going to the Red Cross to donate blood and always supported the Illinois Sheriff’s Association. The McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences may be left by clicking here.

Ronnie was born November 18, 1958, at the Clay County Hospital in Flora, the son of Ronald B. and Anna Mae (Morris) Lewis. Ronnie worked as a plumber for his family business Lewis Plumbing and Electric until they closed. He was Christened in 1959 at Louisville Methodist Church and later Baptized August 2009 by his nephew Zach Strange. Ronnie loved all things outdoors including hunting and fishing, collecting Indian Artifacts, and was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation. He was also a member of the Louisville Methodist Church. Ronnie was an avid reader, most especially the Bible, and anything to do with nature. We could listen to him for hours. He could recite scripture with ease and was so knowledgeable on a wide variety of things . . .  a walking encyclopedia. He had a quick wit, and an easy smile, and was never quick to anger. He loved his family fiercely.

Ronnie is survived by his two daughters, Hannah Fancher of Louisville, Marcy (Cole) Bailey of Xenia; grandchildren, Elijah Lewis, Chloe Lewis, both of Louisville, Claire Bailey, Elliot Bailey, Cora Jean Bailey, all of Xenia; two sisters, Nancy Byers of Louisville, Mary (Lonnie) Forth of Louisville; foster brother and cousin, Marty Lewis; stepsisters, Beth (Rolland) Ranes of Louisville, Gracie Monical of Cisne; step-grandchildren, Laine Fancher and Jasmyn Fancher, both of Ringgold, Georgia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and was loved by all his family and friends that knew him.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents; son, Caleb Lewis; brother-in-law, Sam Byers; stepmother, Martha Lewis; stepbrother, Jim Clowers; foster brother and cousin, Ray Dean Lewis; foster sister and cousin, Jacque Scott.
