James J. Niemerg, 91, of Dieterich, Illinois passed away Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, Bishop Creek, with burial in the church cemetery with military rites. A parish prayer service will be held at 4:00 pm with visitation to follow until 7:00 pm, Monday at the church. Memorial donations may be given to Community Support Systems or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements are in the care of Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham.
James was born December 5, 1930 in Chicago, the son of Philip and Marie (Repking) Niemerg. He married Nancy G. Lange on June 9, 1956 in Chicago and she preceded him in death in 1994. In 2012, he married Barbara Glassford.
James is survived by his wife, Barbara of Hot Springs, AR; daughter, Katie (Roger) Waldhoff of Bishop Creek; sons, Bob (Cindy), Joe (Rosemary), John, Phil (Stephanie), Ray (Chandra), all of Bishop Creek and Jim (Joann) of Rockford; 30 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren; siblings, Wilma Niemerg of Skokie, Donald (Carolyn) of Arlington Heights and sister-in-law, Jeanine (Marty) Kurtyka of Hagerstown, MD.
James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Nancy; infant children, Henry Alphonse and Mary Katherine; brother, Paul Niemerg and sister, Joan and her husband, Girard Annino.
