Harold Max Frailey, 78, of Beecher City, Illinois passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at home.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 5 at Johnson Funeral Home inEffingham. Burial will be in Spring Hill Cemetery at Wright’s Corner in rural Beecher City with militaryrites. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Beecher City Veterans Memorial, Spring Hill Cemetery, or the Michael J. Fox Parkinson’s Foundation. Harold was born August 17, 1944, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Carl H. and Ruth (Buzzard) Frailey. Hewas a 1962 graduate of Beecher City High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps.Harold and Amy Lou Stoldt were married February 27, 1965 and were blessed with 57 years ofmarriage. In 1966, the Marine Corps sent him to Vietnam until it was time for his discharge. He becamea member of the National Guard and the Army Reserves and served many active duty tours, includinghelping with the development and testing of the Bradley Fighting Vehicle. He served in DesertShield/Storm in 1991.

In between his military tours, he farmed and raised cattle, hogs, and sheep. He also trained and racedhis Standardbred horses. He finished his working career with the Corps of Engineers at Lake Shelbyville.

After retiring, he enjoyed camping at Hayes Canyon Campgrounds, riding his horses in the ShawneeNational Forest, and hunting. He really enjoyed shooting the bull at coffee with his cousins and planninghis next adventure-buying trip.

Harold is survived by his wife, Amy Frailey of Beecher City; son, Derrick Frailey of Palmer, IL; daughter,Daphne (Aaron) Gullett of Beecher City; grandchildren, Connor Gullett, Danielle Gullett (fiancé, Jason) ofBeecher City, Katrina Frailey (fiancé, Taylor) of Frankfort, KY, Madelynn Frailey of Clinton, and Lacey(Matt) Lewis of Fredericksburg, IN; great-grandchildren, Tyler, Kayzee, Wrynlee, Caysen, Sawyer, Lincoln,and Ella; sister, Karen (Mike) Swiney of Pana; brother-in-law, and Bob (Denise) Stoldt of Middleburg, FL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Nikolas Frailey.
