Cora Imogene Mahaffey (92) of Wheeler

Cora Imogene Mahaffey, age 92, of Wheeler, Illinois, passed away at 10:30 PM Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Effingham Health Care Center surrounded by her family.

Funeral services celebrating Imogene’s life will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at the Latona Church of Christ in Latona, Illinois, with Eric Bridges officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Wheeler Cemetery in Wheeler, Illinois. In loving memory of Imogene, memorials may be made to the Latona Church of Christ. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. Cora Imogene was born on July 28, 1930, in Hunt City, Illinois, the daughter of George and Nellie (Holmes) Addis. She married Herschel Mahaffey on November 28, 1950, and he preceded her in death on June 3, 1994. Imogene retied from Essex in Newton after several years of service. She was a member of the Latona Church and the Dieterich American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Imogene enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, and quilting.

Imogene is survived by 4 Children – Christine Mahaffey of Effingham, Illinois; Dick Mahaffey of Wheeler, Illinois; John (Bonnie) Mahaffey of Vandalia, Illinois and Dan (Lana) Mahaffey of Wheeler, Illinois; 9 Grandchildren; and 16 Great Grandchildren.

Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Rick Mahaffey, brothers Roy Addis, Dean Addis, Max Addis, Donnie Addis and Gordon Ramey, sisters Vera Addis, Eloise Kerner and Lee Unglesbe.
