Sharon Ann Hampton, Mother, Wife, Sister, Aunt, Nana, and Friend, a resident of Tuscaloosa, AL went to heaven on October 26, 2022 at the age of 75.

Sharon is survived by her children, Jason, Stephen, and Jeremy as well as her daughter-in-law, Amy, and her five grandchildren, Eloise (19), Ethan (17), Laney Dare (14), Elizabeth (13), and Jameson (12).

Sharon was born in Effingham, IL on October 5, 1947, to Lawrence and Mildred Hoelscher.  She worked as a nurse at Saint Anthony’s Hospital.  In January 1978, she married her husband of 41 years Mark who began our version of the Sanford and Sons lifestyle. Traveling through the United States landscape, reaching from Illinois to Delaware, Texas to Montana, and all states in between.

Sharon was a devoted mother and THE world’s greatest Nana! She could be found enjoying yoga, reading a good book, trying some recipes she found in a magazine, or finding the perfect screened-in porch to watch the world go by. Her ability to speak with anyone on any topic was epic.  On Saturdays, she could be heard whispering “Hotty Toddy” while Dad was yelling “Roll Tide!”  However, most days it was filled with giving advice, sometimes the kind you didn’t want to hear, to those that would ask for her wisdom on all things.  All who saw, met, or knew her soon realized that she was as stubborn as a mule but as compassionate as any you would meet.  If you ask her what her proudest achievement was, she would have responded without missing a beat…putting her sons through college.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, November 4, 2022 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham with Rev. Sunder Ery, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Sigel.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that friends and families donate to Wellstar Foundation in support of the Tranquility at Kennesaw Mountain Community Hospice. This organization offered loving care to Mark, at 805 Sandy Plains Road, Suite 100, Marietta, GA 30066 or donate online at www.wellstar.org/givetohospice.
