Sister Jolinda Snyder, O.S.F., 94, of the Hospital Sisters of St. Francis died on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 1:43 a.m. at St. Francis Convent, Springfield, IL.

Sister Jolinda, the former Ruth Beatrice Snyder, was born in Huntingburg, IN, on January 9, 1928, the daughter of Sylvester and Adeline (Spayd) Snyder. She entered the Congregation on September 8, 1946, and professed her religious vows on June 13, 1949.

Sister Jolinda earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pharmacy from St. Louis College of Pharmacy, St. Louis, MO, and attended a Theology Renewal Program at Marillac College in St. Louis, MO.

Sister Jolinda served as a pharmacist at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, from 1971-76 and 1980-1990 along with various other HSHS hospitals in Illinois and Wisconsin. She also served her religious community as the Provincial Secretary and as a receptionist at the Corporate Computer Center of Hospital Sisters Health System from 1990-2010.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers: Michael, LaVerne, Bernard, and Leo Snyder, and one sister, Mary Krodel.

She is survived by a sister, Helen R. Snyder of Dupont, WA, two nieces and several nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and her Franciscan Sisters with whom she shared her life for 75 years.

Funeral Services were held at St. Francis Convent on October 23 and 24, 2022 with burial in Crucifixion Hill Cemetery at St. Francis Convent.

Butler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
