On Monday, October 10th, 2022 Edward (Ed) Grunloh passed away of Alzheimer’s surrounded by his family. He was 78.

Ed is survived by his wife Norma (nee Ludwig) and his daughter Jill (Edward) DeFrance. He was the proud Grandpa (known as “Buddy Grandpa”) to Nick, Jake and Luke DeFrance. Ed has two sisters, Carolyn (Denny) Isley and Ann (Linus) Schumacher, a sister-in-law, Joanie Grunloh, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son Jeffrey, as well as his parents, Albert and Emma and his brother, Kenny Grunloh.

Ed loved many things, but his favorites were enjoying life, people, and hard work. His favorite place to be was outside and it didn’t matter where he was or what he was doing. He was happy to mow the lawn or shovel snow, fish with his grandsons, or vacation with Norma in sunshine and warm weather. He loved being with people and could make a connection with just about everyone, which included clients from his building and real estate career, his neighbors, or strangers – he was known for his smile and signature wave to start a conversation. He will always be remembered as “one of the good guys”.

Ed will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In his honor, there will be two Celebrations of Life as follows: Bisch Funeral Home, 2931 South Koke Mill Road, Springfield, Illinois, on Friday, November 4th from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. A second celebration will take place at Westmoor Country Club, 400 South Moorland Road, Brookfield, Wisconsin on Saturday, November 12th from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, our family requests that memorials be made to Aurora Zilber Family Hospice to support families going through their end-of-life journeys, or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
