Gary Lee West (72) of Effingham

Gary Lee West, Sr., 72 of Effingham, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Burial will follow in Arborcrest Memorial Park with military rites. Visitation will be held from 1:00 PM to the time of service Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the family to help with final expenses.

Gary was born April 5, 1950 in Effingham, the son of Clifford A. And Wanda Lou (Ballinger) West. He married Lois Kelly on May 1, 1976. Gary served in the Vietnam War with the United States Navy and was a proud member of the Effingham American Legion Post #120 and the D.A.V. Gary worked at World Color Press in Effingham as a janitor and security guard from 1999 until the closing of the plant in 2003. In recent years, Gary was self-employed and enjoyed doing yard work, mowing, and trimming.

Gary is survived by his wife, Lois of Effingham; son, Gary Jr. of Effingham; daughter, Terri of Effingham; brother, Ron of Watson; and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Pamela Tara and Caroline Smith; sister-in-law, Carol West.
