Wanda Mae Saunders (86) of Altamont

Wanda Mae Saunders, 86, of Altamont, peacefully passed away at 5:07 p.m. Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Gieseking Funeral Home, Altamont with Shannon Bopp officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Wanda was born on December 14, 1935 in Effingham, IL, the daughter of William and Leona (Lowder) Babbs. She married John Saunders on November 5, 1971 and he preceded her in death on August 5, 1995.
Wanda retired from Walmart after many years in 1995. She was a member of the VFW Post #7676 Auxiliary. Wanda loved time spent reading a good book and spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include; her daughter, Karen (Bob) Spurlock; sons, Gary Lock, Bill (Marna) Murray and David (Cindy) Murray; grandchildren, Ben (Kelly) Spurlock, Eli (Brandi) Lock, Levi (Shae) Lock, Nicole Draves, Kayla (Brandon) Childress, Brock (Jenna) Murray, Jennifer Murray, Brandon (Debbie) Murray, Derek Murray and Taylor (Dru Dunlap) Murray; 24 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by; her brothers, Stanford, Scottie, Vernon and Artie Babbs; grandsons, Joel and Zach Lock; and granddaughter, Kimberly Osborn.
