Alex W. Alsbury (31) of Charleston

Alex W. Alsbury, 31, of Charleston, IL, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2022 at Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday prior to the service at the funeral home. Alex was born on August 24, 1991, in Effingham, IL, the son of Terry Alsbury and Gerry “Ann” (Schwager) Marsh. He graduated from Effingham High School and attended Lake Land College. To know Alex was to love him. He was very outgoing and enjoyed music, playing guitar, Harry Potter, watching wrestling, and rooting for the Washington Redskins. He also loved being outdoors, being in nature, and skateboarding. Alex had a lot of love, but above all, loved his son and his mom. He was a believer in Christ and attended the Family Worship Center in Charleston.

Alex is survived by his son, Michael Alsbury of Teutopolis; mother, Ann Marsh of Effingham; father, Terry Alsbury of Vandalia; sisters, Jennifer (Roy) Shelley of Effingham, Allie Bonner (Drew Apke) of Effingham, Jady Alsbury of Vandalia, and Hailey Marsh of Effingham; grandmother, Beverly Schwager of Effingham; nephews, Oakley Bonner and Callan Shelley; niece, Nora Apke; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, and beloved dog, Kiedis.

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wayne Schwager; and grandmother, Helen Alsbury.
