Howard Keith Green Sr., age 95, of Altamont, formerly of St. Peter, Illinois passed away at 7:00 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2022, at Lutheran Care Center in Altamont.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 10, 2022, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in St. Peter, Illinois with a one-hour visitation prior to the service. Reverend Marcus Manley will be officiating. Burial will be at Sandy Branch Cemetery in Alma. Memorials may go to the Sandy Branch Cemetery, Lutheran Care Center, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, or the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed by clicking here.

Keith was born on June 5, 1927, in Decatur, Illinois the son of Robb and Marjorie (Wade) Green. He married Lorna Mae Drewes on September 4, 1949, at St. Peter, Illinois. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church and was considered a very thoughtful person. He enjoyed watching baseball and handing out hymnal booklets at the Lutheran Care Center. He was in the Navy and was in WWII. He started the Three Corners Ambulance Service and was the founder in the St. Peter area and was an EMT for several years. Keith was the owner and operator of Green Sales and Service in St. Peter, Illinois and was a truck driver for 32 years. He was a member of the St. Peter American Legion.

He is survived by his son, Howard K. Green Jr. (wife Sheena) of Effingham; daughters, Debbie Hanson (husband Mike) of Altamont, Susan Smith (husband Bob and friend Tony Mount) of Naples, Florida, and Paula Jones (husband Jim) of Effingham; grandchildren, Ryan (wife Janet), Justin (wife Michelle), and Jared (wife Laura), Lynsie (husband Andy ), Chad (wife Jenna), and Chase (wife Kierstyn), Blake, Connie (friend Fabian) and Scott (wife Kris); and 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robb and Marjorie Green; beloved wife, Lorna Mae Green; brother, Thomas Leroy Green.
