Greg Orty Baumgarten (65) of Stewardson

Greg Orty Baumgarten, 65, of Stewardson, IL passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, in the comfort of his home with loved ones by his side.

Greg was born on July 15, 1957, in Effingham, the son of Orty and Lorene (Diepholz) Baumgarten. Greg worked at Shelby County Community Services in Shelbyville for many years. He was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church in Strasburg, an avid Cardinals fan and enjoyed listening to rock and roll oldies, going to auctions with his brother-in-law Fred and walking on the beach.

Greg will lovingly be remembered by his brother, Steve Baumgarten of Charleston; sisters: June (Floyd) Davis of Centerville, OH and Janet (Fred) Manhart of Stewardson and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and his extended family at Shelby County Community Services and his church family at Grace Lutheran Church, all who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Jean Baumgarten and sister-in-law, Barbara Baumgarten.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022, in Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson with Reverend Kene Whybrew officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place in Stewardson Cemetery. Brummerstedt Funeral Home in Stewardson is assisting the family.
