Elizabeth Ann "Susie" Callahan (85) of Greenup

Elizabeth Ann “Susie” Callahan, age 85, of Greenup, Illinois, passed away at 6:50 PM Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Cumberland Rehab and Health Care Center in Greenup, Illinois.

Funeral services celebrating Susie’s life will be held at 12:00 PM (Noon) Monday, September 19, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home – Bishop Chapel in Greenup, Illinois, with Rick Emrich officiating. Burial will be in the Harmony Cemetery north of Greenup, Illinois. Visitation will be held 1 hour before the service. Elizabeth Ann, known to family and friends as Susie, was born on February 7, 1937, in Timothy, Illinois, in rural Cumberland County, the daughter of Clifford Herman and Edna (Donley) Carr. She married Robert Lee Callahan on September 2, 1955, and he preceded her in death on June 28, 1999. Susie and Lee owned Elmer’s Grocery from 1973 until 1985 and were part owners of D&M Hardware for several years. She enjoyed the outdoors and was a Master Gardner. Her greatest love was her children and grandchildren.

Susie is survived by: 3 Children – Cindy Dailey, Randy (Crystal) Callahan and Kent Callahan all of Greenup, Illinois; 7 Grandchildren – Bill Kuhn, Jami (Patrick) Duffy, Jessica (Josh) Helmuth, Stacey (Jordan) Peters, Amy (Neil) Sandschafer, Trenton (AJ) Callahan and Jeana (Kevin) Sherry; 15 Great Grandchildren – Emilee and Ashlynne Kuhn, Gabi Davidson, Lindsay Davidson, Lexie and Aiden Helmuth, Lily and Layla Peters, Ben, Jack and Max Sandschafer, Jasmine, Angela and Teagan Callahan and Rory Sherry; Sister-in-law – Ethel Carr.

Susie was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 10 siblings Edith Markwell, Maye Ozier, Ruby Wright, Bill Carr, Mary Ellen Moss, Jack A. Carr, Hank Carr, Nellie Markwell, John D. Carr and David Carr.
