Gerald “Dwaine” Worthey, age 75, of Louisville, Illinois passed away at 6:00 am Thursday, September 1, 2022 at his home in rural Hord.

Dwaine was born on May 29, 1947, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Charles and Wanda (VanDyke) Worthey. He attended school at the Hord Grade School and North Clay High School. He married Anita Vogel on July 13, 1968, in Stewardson, Illinois and they shared 54 years of marriage.

Dwaine worked at W.G. Best Homes as a carpenter and was a truck driver for Advance Transportation for over 20 years. He was a charter member of the North Clay Fire Department and a member of the Bible Grove Sportsman Club. He was a charter member of the G.W.R.R.A. Chapter IL-D-2 motorcycle club and he and Anita enjoyed many years traveling to chapter and national events on their Goldwing motorcycles. They had ridden motorcycles in 49 of the 50 states. Dwaine also enjoyed woodworking, bird hunting, and trapshooting. Dwaine was also a Blair Township Board member for several years. The joy of his life was spending time with his family and enjoying his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife: Anita Worthey of Louisville; 2 sons: Michael (Nicci) Worthey of Louisville and Matthew (Darla) Worthey of Louisville; 6 grandchildren: Elizabeth (Kyle) Antman of Lincolnshire, Illinois, Lauren (Joe) Guerra of Algonquin, Illinois, Andrew Worthey and friend Cassidy Bruns, and Macy, Lily and Ty Worthey of Louisville.

Dwaine was preceded in death by his parents; brother: Donnie Worthey was KIA in Vietnam.

Graveside services to honor Dwaine’s life will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday, September 4, 2022 at the Old Union Cemetery, Bible Grove, with Rev. Stephen Rutherford officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be held on Saturday evening at the McGriff Funeral Home in Louisville where friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, and on Sunday from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Dwaine’s memory to the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Louisville, Clay County Hospice, Bible Grove Sportsman Club, or the Clay County Veterans Memorial.
