Lowell Elijah Kepley, age 92 of rural Ingraham, Illinois, passed away at 4:18 pm Tuesday, August 30, 2022, surrounded by family at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham, IL.
Services celebrating Lowell’s life will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois, with Keith Kepley officiating. Burial will be in the Headyville Cemetery in rural Dieterich, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, September 2, 2022 at the funeral home. In loving memory of Lowell, memorials may be made to the Land of Lincoln Honor Fight. Arrangements are under the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton, Illinois. Lowell was born November 30, 1929, in South Muddy Township in Jasper County, Illinois the son of Elijah J. Kepley and Orie (Bryant) Kepley. Lowell married Shirley McKinney on December 5, 1953. Lowell was a Korean War veteran, served as a school board member for Ingraham Grade School, and was a Jasper County board member, serving as chairman for several years. He was a bus driver for Jasper County Unit #1, South Muddy Township clerk, and Farm Bureau member. Lowell was a life-long farmer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was active on his farm his entire life.
Lowell is survived :Wife of 68 years - Shirley (McKinney) Kepley; Children - Danny (Debbie) Kepley of Ingraham, Illinois, Greg (Carol) Kepley of Ingraham, Illinois, Linda (Dale) Probst of Wheeler, Illinois, Lana (Danny) Mahaffey of Wheeler, Illinois, and Doug (Joan) Kepley of Monticello, Illinois; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; Sisters - Mabel Cowger of Ingraham, Illinois, Mayme Burk of Effingham, Illinois; Sister-in-law - Virginia McKinney of Dieterich, Illinois.
Lowell was preceded in death by his parents, sisters: Grace Mullins, Noma Mullins, Lela Kepley, Leone Kepley, brother Nolan Kepley and brother-in-law Jerry McKinney.
