Marsha Kay (Brumleve) Wagner, 70, of Chicago, Illinois passed away on August 5, 2022 at her home surrounded by her friends. She was the loving wife of John Charles Wagner who preceded her in death in 2015.

Marsha was born in Effingham, Illinois to Ethel and Maurice Brumleve. She attended the St. Anthony Schools and graduated in 1970. She went on to earn her first degree in Spanish from Rosary College, currently Dominican University. She earned her Master of Arts in South American Studies from the University of Illinois-Chicago. Marsha worked as a Spanish language instructor at Francis W. Parker School for 37 years where she touched the lives of many young people. Marsha had visited every country in South and Central America. She shared this love of travel with her students by accompanying them on many foreign study tours.

Marsha was an active member of her parish, St. Teresa of Avila, volunteering in many of its ministries. Besides travel, she enjoyed people, music, was a self-proclaimed foodie, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Marsha is survived by her sister, Marlene (Steven) Pickett of Effingham, IL, her nephews, Vincent (Laura LoGerfo) Pickett of Arlington, VA and Ryan (Nina) Pickett of Chicago, IL, her grandnieces, Katarina and Lark Pickett of Arlington, VA, and her special Godchild, Jason Krimwiede of Berwyn, IL. She will also be missed by her many friends and acquaintances. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Teresa of Avila, Chicago, IL

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 7, 2022, at St. Teresa of Avila Church in Chicago, followed by Mass starting at noon. Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022 at St. Anthony Cemetery in Effingham.
