Donald Robert Starwalt (69) of Gila

Donald Robert Starwalt,  69, of Gila, Illinois, passed away at 11:48 p.m. Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Willowbrook in Effingham, Illinois.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Wednesday, August 10 at St Joseph Catholic Church in Island Grove, with Fr. Frank Folino, OFM, celebrating mass. Burial will be in the Jewett Cemetery in Jewett. Donald Robert was born October 22, 1952, in Wichita Falls, Texas, the son of Dana and Evelyn (Yaw) Starwalt.  He graduated from Newton Community High School in 1970. Donald married Shirley Einhorn on March 2, 1974, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Island Grove. Donald worked at Fedder’s in Effingham for 16 years, and retired from Lender’s Bagels in Mattoon after 32 years of service. He was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed camping, riding motorcycles and cruising in his 1969 Plymouth Roadrunner.

Donald is survived by his wife of 48 years, Shirley Starwalt of Gila; son, Travis (Wife Lisa) Starwalt of Teutopolis; father, Dana Starwalt of Toledo, Illinois; grandchildren, Colton Starwalt (special friend Lindsay Ryan) of Flat Rock, Illinois;Shelby Starwalt of Teutopolis; twin brother, Ronald (wife Deb) Starwalt of Teutopolis and sisters, Sharon (Terry) Trostle of Toledo and Terri (Bill) McGinnis of Jewett. 

Donald was preceded in death by his mother.
