Richard C. “Dick” Taylor, Sr, 63, of Newton, Illinois, passed away at 3:38 p.m. Thursday, August 4, 2022, at Helia Healthcare in Newton. 

A gathering for family and friends to celebrate Dick’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, September 10, at Sam Parr State Park (White Oak picnic area) north east of Newton.  Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Newton. Online condolences may be left by clicking here.

Richard, better known to his family and friends as Dick, was born April 1, 1959, in Olney, Illinois, the son of James Brent “Jim” and Ann (Weber) Taylor, Sr. Dick enjoyed riding his bike and taking care of his yard.  He also enjoyed taking care of his cats, which he claimed weren’t his, but we all know better.

The family would like to thank the Newton Care Center (Helia Healthcare) and Carle Hospice for the compassion they showed Dick while he was in their care.

Dick is survived by his mother, Ann Taylor; sons, Clyde (Elissa) Powell and Rick Taylor; brothers, Phil (Mindy) Taylor and Dan (Tony Archer) Taylor; sister, Joanie (Frank) Herbert; sister-in-law, Karen Taylor and many nieces and nephews

Dick was preceded in death by his father and brother Jim Taylor, Jr.
