Roy “Dean” Voyles, 79, of Shelbyville, IL passed away on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Dean was born on January 9, 1943, in Decatur, the son of Roy and Nancy (Tippit) Voyles. He was a 1961 graduate of Mulberry Grove High School and a veteran of the United States Army Reserves. Dean married Phyllis White in June 2004. He was a truck driver for many years. Dean was a longtime member of the Shriner (Ansar Shriners), Jackson Masonic Lodge #53, Moose Lodge 1294 and VFW Post 4829, all of Shelbyville. He enjoyed motorcycling, tractor pulls and fishing.

He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Voyles of Shelbyville; children: Jeff (Susan) Voyles of Sullivan, Brian (Ellen) Voyles of Shelbyville, Cathy (Redd) Voyles of Pana, Roy (Melissa) Miller of Hammond and Ted (Lori) Miller of Shelbyville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers: Marvin Voyles of Mattoon and Joe (Brenda) Voyles of Shelbyville; sister, Karen Sue Voyles and special friend, Willy Johnson of Findlay and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, William Voyles.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with military honors by the Shelby County Honor Guard. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022, in Lockart-Green Funeral Home in Shelbyville with masonic rites at 8:00 p.m. by the Jackson Masonic Lodge #53.
