James Alan Spivey, 72, of Shelbyville, IL passed away at 3:45 p.m. Thursday, July 28, 2022 in his residence.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL. Memorials may be given to the Shelbyville Moose Lodge Scholarship Fund and mailed to Howe & Yockey Funeral Home, 415 N. Broadway, Shelbyville, IL 62565.

Jim was born on October 4, 1949 in Effingham, IL, the son of Harold E., Sr. and Neva E. (Gillespey) Spivey. He graduated from Windsor High School in the Class of 1968. He worked for the City of Shelbyville in the Street, Water, and Park Departments until the time of his retirement in 2012. Jim was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time on the river. Jim also enjoyed cooking and going for rides on his Can-Am Spyder. He was a member of the Shelby Sportsman’s Club and Shelbyville Moose Lodge #1294.

Jim is survived by his son, James R. “Rusty” Spivey of Shelbyville, IL; daughter, Vickie Wagner (Bryan) of Shelbyville, IL; brothers, Harold Spivey, Jr. (Marsha) of Tower Hill, IL, Ronald Spivey of Pana, IL, and Tony Spivey of Charleston, IL; and one granddaughter, Baylie Wagner.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Ernest Spivey.
