Paula Kay Tieffel, 72, of Herrick, formerly of Effingham, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at her home.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 29, 2022, at Watson Baptist Church, in Watson, IL. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service at the church. Services are in the care of Johnson Funeral Home in Effingham. Memorials may be made to Watson Baptist Church, or HSHS Hospice Southern Illinois. Online condolences may be shared by clicking here.
Paula was born March 25, 1950, in Rushville, IN, the daughter of Ray and Lois (Mitchell) Anderson. She graduated from Arlington High School in Arlington, IN in 1968, and later attended Marion College in Marion, IN. Paula first married Larry Dunaway and to this union two children were born, Eric and Ryan. Paula later married Jerry Tieffel on December 31, 1986, in Effingham, and he preceded her in death on January 17, 2011. Paula worked at RCA in Indianapolis, IN before starting at World Color Press in Effingham in 1974. After many years at World Color Press, she worked at B & L Machine and retired in 2019. She was a member of Watson Baptist Church where she held numerous roles as treasurer, trustee, and even singing in the choir. Paula enjoyed her grandchildren and their activities, gardening, decorating her home, and meeting with her friends from work for pizza weekly.
Paula is survived by her son, Eric Dunaway; step-daughter, Sandra (Thomas) Williams; grandchildren Kendyll, Brodey, Taylor, Ashlyn, Kristine, Sebastian, and Skylar; her great-grandchildren; sister, Teresa (Charles) Farthing; brothers, Roger (Ranae) Anderson, Don (Terri) Anderson, and Ron Anderson; and in-laws, Shirley (Bud) Vonderheide, Mickey (Jerry) Koester, Sandy (Don) Bingman, Debra (Lyle) Kirby, Dianna (Nathan) Jones, Priss (Ed) Stephens, Becky Tieffel, Bob (Gloria) Tieffel, Don (Chris) Tieffel, Dennis Tieffel, Doug (Nila) Tieffel, Jim Tieffel, and Diane Tieffel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jerry; son, Ryan Dunaway; and in-laws, Dixie Kuhn, Kent Tieffel, and David Tieffel.
